Tigers at full strength

Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club and record winners of the title the Leicester Tigers will be going into the final of this season’s edition, looking to secure their ninth Premiership title with virtually their full strength squad.

According to Richard Cockerill, the Director of Rugby of the club, the club’s two recent injury scares, lock forward Ed Slater and winger Adam Thompstone are looking very good and have a very good chance of being fully fit for the local derby in the final against heated rivals the Northampton Saints.

And if these two are indeed passed fit, only loose head prop Marcos Ayerza will be sitting out of the final with a collar bone injury and when the two sides take to the pitch on Saturday, the fans of The Tigers will know it will be their strongest XV that will exit the tunnel at Twickenham Stoop. The Leicester Tigers boss Cockerill will have a huge selection headache ahead of the final but he will also be happy to know that he will have almost his full squad to choose from, expect Ayerza and Louis Deacon, who will be missing his third consecutive final with a shoulder injury.

According to Cockerill, who spoke to the media, Thompstone has a high possibility of playing in the final and Slater’s triceps are also on the mend. He further mentioned that Slater trained last week and has had no reaction and should be okay to play in the final.

Cockerill mentioned that with almost all the players fit, it gives the Leicester Tigers two or three options for a position and quite a few headaches as well. But for a Director of Rugby, these headaches are always welcome and it gives them a lot of options to change things during a game.
