Tigers Welcome back several Key Players
Aviva Premiership Rugby Union club the Leicester Tigers were given a huge fitness boost ahead of their scheduled Heineken Cup encounter against French side Toulouse with news that back rower Steve Mafi is back to full fitness and ready to play a part in the game. The Tongan flanker had to sit out of The Tigers’ last two games with injury after being taken off in the second half in their match against Harlequins FC on the 22nd of September.
The Supporters’ Young Player of the Year as well as the Tigers’ Player of the Year from last season was back in full training and is ready to slot into his position as the Leicester Tigers prepare for a tough trip to the four time winners of the European Cup this Sunday. This comes as another piece of good news for Richard Cockerill, the Director of Rugby for the club as he gets ready to welcome back several key players from injury ahead of their opening fixture of the new season of European rugby in Pool 2.
Hooker George Chuter and winger Scott Hamilton are all fit and ready for action as well as centre Dan Bowden, who suffered an injury scare against the Sale Sharks last weekend is also in the mix for The Tigers. Loose-head prop Marcos Ayerza is also available for selection for the match after returning from international duty with his national team Argentina.
And a delighted Cockerill stated that having players like Mafi and Chuter back for the game is extremely important as the side is about to face one of the biggest teams in Europe. Cockerill believes that their experience will be integral to the challenge of the Leicester Tigers in the competition and is looking forward to seeing them in action this weekend.
